my 23rd birthday

i had an early birthday celebration this year as usual. this year it was 2 days earlier on the 16th of february.happy 23rd birthday to me!
had a mini birthday dinner at bangsar shopping centre - twentyone
overall food and drinks were not bad. but the desserts were quite disappointing. although everyone were an hour late or more due to work or transport issues, i appreciated every bit and the presents. better late than never right. i had fun. thanks love~

my birthday celebrations did not stop there. on the 17th of feb. auntie winnie decided to treat me and 3 other birthday guests (including my mum) at Oversea, Jalan Imbi.

it was full 8 course meal i reckon. my tummy was so bloated. all the weight lost came in handy.

this year's birthday celebration was a blast! although i would have love to celebrate with more friends. i know that some were busy with work and had commitments of their own. nevertheless, thank you for all the wishes and love. maybe next year i'll have five celebration! even though it seems like i only had three dinners for my birthday. I already celebrated once on the 2nd day of CNY. look back at the photos! my mum was holding the cake i was carrying moka! hehehe

gucci decided to 'sponsor' my outfit for my first two dinners. i chose alain figaret for the actual day. haha. hopefully one day i will really be sponsored.

11 hours on the plane. movies save the day.
particularly enjoyed this movie. lots of lessons learned from it, which I totally agreed with. For starters, humans should sometimes stop and relax and think blank. meditate a bit. let go. enjoy life. enjoy food. enjoy shopping. stress free.pray. find love. whatever that is beneficial for the human body and mind. I would want to really take my time off at this point of life. I disagree with the pace humans are moving at the moment. people tend to lose their sense of direction if they move too fast.

one thing i've learned throughout the Europe trip is that people used to build their mansions, castles, villas, etc through decades. Now people build their homes within years or months. China currently is capable of building an ordinary hotel in 6 days. what a difference. i guess its for the money. time is money they say. but with money cant buy time. how many times people regret not spending enough time with their loved ones. society today is full with shit. unfortunately i'm part of it too.
so yeah watching movies all the way from london to kl. efficient no. 5 movies.
on the side note, angelina jolie looks awesome with ice blonde hair.. random much. she does not have red/gold/ orange hair like the poster. so yeah.

Flight hours are always good time period to catch with missed out movies. This time is no exception. I watched Killers, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Toy Store 3 and finally Avatar as well as Twilight: Eclipse. Yes some of the movies have been ages. But better now than never right.

To give some reviews, Twilight is bad. Those lines were so cheesy I nearly died. If not for the 13 hours of flight hours, I probably wont watch it. The acting was so so but it was the script. Oh M Gee. Gross. Really? Girls nowadays like to read stuff like that? What is with Jake’s line. Rating D.

Hmm Avatar. One movie that the whole world went crazy and rave about. I agree that the graphics are awesome and the imagination of James Cameron is unbelievable. But then it reminded me how people particularly the white people. I am generalising, but then it made me think how the military force can be so ignorant and arrogant. Why do they always think that they can be the most powerful and take over the world? After all, they are powerful because of mechanics, weapons and aggressive behaviour. Really? Why do they feel like they can conquest everything? Hmm at least at the end humans lost and the aliens won. Rating B

I don’t think I will watch all these movies again. They are certainly not my favourites. As for other movies they were okay. Nothing good in particular.

i am officially an iphone user.

i considered myself super super lucky, when iphone 4 was released. millions queued for hours to get hold of the iphone 4. the situation in malaysia was no different than anywhere else. people queued for 8 hours at times! crazy much? kenny sia was one of the "Crazy bunch"

as people should know by now. i am back in Malaysia. i departed Melbourne 17th night and arrived in Malaysia 18th morning. jet lagged much. and so i napped and went to Gardens around 2pm, just hoping to put my name on the waiting list for iphone 4 and asked for more information. this is where I got really lucky. the trainee told me i could get my phone at 4pm.

EXCITE MUCH! jumping with joy inside.

i was deciding if i should get a new number when the trainee told me i could change my prepaid number to postpaid. so while waiting to do so. i was approached by another maxis dude. he said "i help you do now".. i was puzzled? HUH? i thought 4pm?he took my oh-so-ugly IC and left me..after 20 minutes or so, he called me over to the counter and DEMANDED that I pay rm2190 now. hahahaha. okie paid! weeeeeee iphone babeh.

hmm it was just my day i guess. i overheard others saying IPHONE tak ada stock la. hahaha maybe i took the last one? i dunno. who cares. as long as i got one and others have to wait. yes.. that includes mun fye. phail is he. who went to pavillion and it was sold out. i reckon face problem too. lol.. hahaha.. *and people should never buy iphone covers before they get an iphone* HIGHlarious i tell you. HAHAHA.. this is faith.. i must have been good. XMAS is coming.. *cough cough*

so yes. i downloaded whatsapp first thing too. so that i can contact my minions who all have iphone/blackberry and ditched me.. HMPH. often ostrich-ised me for not having an iphone. Biatch!

Past few days had been intense. I spent quality time with my minions, which I appreciated deeply. I felt loved and belonged and it makes me real sad that I am leaving them behind in Melbourne. Nevertheless I love them to bits and I hope they understand that I needed to walk away to grow.

got a Nikon D90 for my birthday so i thought i'll test it out during the CNY period.. flowers are one of the best models for photography i reckon.. they are so vibrant and full of life..
this year's celebration was filled with FOOD... lots of them...4 of my fridge at home were stuffed with food! not to mention the CNY gathering outside.. and the cookies.. drinks.. i was bloated most of the 15 days..ang pao collection was succesfull too i reckon.. i was satisfied with the amount.. XP other than just food.. frens came over.. fireworks display also 60% of 15 days..many many lion dances..it was really a busy CNY eventful!well CNY has always been awesome.. and this year is no different...

Day 4

was suppose to go shopping early in the morning.. but then mum and karen decided to wash hair.. but it turn out longer than expected.. instead of wash hair.. it became massage the hair.. rinse the head for 1 hour... it took freaking long.. massage..rub.. rinse.. wash.. repeat 10 times.. crazy... and after the treatment.. time to blow..

only ONE freaking hair dryer.. FAINT!!!!!!! what hotel has a saloon with only ONE freaking hair dryer.. OMG.. unbelievable.. terrible!! .. so yeah wasted most of the morning..

after that..managed to walk nearby for about 2 hours or so and soon it was time to head back to the hotel and go to the airport....

fast forward in the airport.. checked in everything.. bought some stuff.. and board the plane..

dinner on the plane..eeee not yummy...

2 hours later.. back in KLIA~

Day 3

another famous landmark of Ho Chi Minh is the Mekong Delta. Back in those days when Delta and Dataran were taught during geography classes.. now I've seen the real thing. it took us 2 hours on a bumpy drive to Mekong Delta. Man.. crazy vietnam roads.

if you look close enough the house has no floors built-in, its just the shell of the house..made with coconut tree wood *can u imagine no tiles or carpets?*local fruits local performers.. after they performed.. they showed us cds which they had produce... mmm.. its alright.. thanks anyway..me trying hard to be a Vietnam fruit seller... potential?

no pumpkin house carriage.. just a basic kampung style carriagecute puppy! on the road side..

basically it was a half day trip traveling around the Mekong Delta.. experiencing bits and pieces of the delta's daily lives...
soon it was time for lunch.. and we had the famous Mekong 'elephant ear fish'.. with other local dishes...

then it was another 2 hours drive back to the city...

Day 2

Cu Chi Tunnel was our first stop that morning. Cu chi Tunnel according to wikipedia is an immense network of connecting underground tunnels located in the Cu Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City for the Vietnam War, and were the Viet Cong's base of operations in 1968. The tunnels were used as hiding spots during combat and serves as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon for the guerrilla fighters.

To estimate how small the entrance was....

my size 11 feet.. crazy...this section was made bigger for tourist to experience the tunnel. me and mum went down thinking it would be HUGE to walk around but we were so wrong. After the few steps down, the tunnel was 0.5m wide perhaps? It was dark, stuffy, eerie. I could only duck walk a bit and then crawl through the whole tunnel. Its really hard to imagine how the Viet Cong managed to stay down there for more than 3 months at times..without any sunlight. worst thing is, we only experienced the first level of the tunnel. there were 3 levels in total like the map.. how to get down there and survive.. *faint* after surviving the 30metre tunnel which was sufficient to experience, we saw display of past booby traps, how they were made underground etc. Before leaving, we ate steam tapioca with sugar/salt and tea. Accordingly, that was the main source of food.
lunch was nextafter that lacquer factorylots of touring and sight seeing that day. War Remnants Museum was next. It exhibits mainly on the American phase of the Vietnam War. inside the museum was graphic photograph which were heart breaking, sad and dark. During the Vietnam War, the US sprayed 77,000.000 litres of chemical defoliants in South Vietnam. Agent Orange as it turns out caused cancer, birth defects. 400,00 deaths and disabilities, and 500,000 children were born with birth defects. Those photograph tells the story on how Vietnam people suffer during the war thanks to the US. Due to their insecurity that communism MIGHT conquer the world, they 'helped' south vietnam by bombing them, torturing them, at the end nothing beneficial. losing the battle. It was a sad sad moment inside the museum. At this point, I cant think of any reason why those US who fought for Vietnam are heroes.. and why people should honor them. and why are US so proud, in reality they did NOTHING for the country and the people. NOTHING.on a brighter note, we continue our sight seeing journey with the Notre Dame de Saigonand the post office left behind by the French which is still in used 365 days.after a full day of sight seeing and touring, we were all smelly and sticky.. so back to the hotel for a shower and short rest.. and next is food time again!
yummy yummy.. this dinner cost a BOMB! it was over 4 million DONG.. XD but worth every penny.. haha

Day 1

after a short 2 hours flight with lunch on the plane.. We were in Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam.
The land filled with green, serene looking until you hit the city.

the traffic was freaking scary! we sat on the cyclo (cycle riskshaw) around the city for about an hour.. the experience was mind-blowing.. cars, buses, motorcycles, humans were walking in all direction. *faint*see what i mean... * they came right in front of me* and turned.

after that 'roller-coaster' ride.. we watched 50 minutes of Vietnam's famous cultural show - Water Puppet
something i will not watch again ever.. XD

next it was dinner @ quan an ng.n ~
after stuffing our stomach with authentic Viet food.. it was off to Ben Thanh Market which was again Ôi Chúa ơi! (OH MY GOD).. motorbikes were EVERYWHERE again!!crazy vietnam.. terrible.. LOL

oh by the way.. they honk every few seconds.. *honk honk honk honk*.. non stop!!!! they love their honks...but its like a signal 'i'm coming' let me pass.. rather than.. the rude kinda honk..u know? hmmm

2010's new year eve is by far the worst and most awkward nye ever. thought by coming back on the 28th in order to celebrate nye with frens could be fun and awesome but it turn out to be alone time at home. my only fren currently is the computer screen. somehow i question if my phone or hotlink or digi are operating or not.. msg-ED most of me frens.. but nobody seems interested n only a few replied my msg.. less than 5 perhaps? wat's with the cold treatment? perhaps i should have just stayed longer in melbourne? perhaps..

once in awhile, i feel like updating the half dead blog. but sometimes i dont really want to. no idea why. *totally random but i just feel like writing it out*

summer break is here and results are out. its wat i expected.. as usual.. nothing spectacular.. no H1s and H2s.. but its alright i guess.. i should be excited since i no longer need to study any science related subjects.. phew~ bye bye science helu arts~

words aint really coming out from my brain.. maybe its the time.. or maybe my inner voice is telling me not to broadcast everything to the world..i dunno.. lately i've been doing a lot of soul searching.. but i cant seem to find myself yet..frens are graduating starting tomorrow.. interning in big companies.. some are getting engaged and one is already married.. at the age of 21..talk about accomplishments.. as for me.. i'm still bumming around.. spending my dad's money which is wonderful.. XD but yeah.. seems hard to imagine myself in the future..

the question i always ask myself nowadays is what am i good at? frankly i dont know.. do tell..

this is such a random post.. with random thoughts..

but at least i'm sharing.. and u'll know what really goes behind my brain..

and yes.. i love to look at designer goods..whether i can afford or not is my problem or rather my dad's problem..but i'm atypical.. i aint typical.. i dont fancy sports for one.. but i reckon i need to soon.. i should get inspired by uncle K.. Karl Lagerfeld for those who dont know.. he was a fat arse and because he wanted to wear a particular designer's piece he had a major transformation..marc jacobs was geeky and out of shape too.. but now he looks great.. with or without his hermes bag and men skirt..

i have major mood swings.. sometimes i wake up feeling like shit.. sometimes i'm happy.. sometimes i laugh.. and sometimes i get really emo.. i dont like what i see in the mirror.. i dont really see the mirror that often.. i only use the mirror when i'm in the bathroom.. even tho i sleep next to two HUGE mirror as they act as doors for my closet.. i dont use them.. i ignore them somehow..

i do more window shopping than actually buying the product.. clothes and pants are like my enemies.. i cant fit into most of the things.. its depressing.. and instead of trying to fit into it by exercising.. i eat more.. the easy way out.. why fight it.. might as well join it.. *do u feel the negativity aura* hmm.. i dont know.. i'm not inspired..

in the midst of studying for exams.. i've accomplished much for the past 16 days.. library has been my 2nd home..its great being there.. its quiet and i get my work done..most of the time anyway.. sometimes however.. it gets really annoying when i need to do my lab report or essays with my 'getting-old' VAIO.. it has been a great 4 years.. but i think its time i upgrade.. u annoy me A LOT!!

just had my first paper this afternoon..once i saw the first question i knew i was doomed~ it looked so foreign to me... flipped to the essay part.. dunno.. dunno..dunno.. end essay question.. DIE.. it was a hard paper okay.. so shudup..

i also managed to squeeze in a little time for legendary pop princess now queen of pop - miss britney spears.... last thursday..unfortunately i sat soo far.. it was soo hard to capture at least ONE good photo of her.. sad...but despite all her critics..i still admire and love her till death.. its britney bitch!...listening to her new single... 3

hmm wat else has been happening? the fact that i've been spending a lot this month even though its exam period? >< actually its not a lot.. just the fact that exchange rate is super high now.. BOO SAMA MALAYSIA ECONOMY!!!

so yeah.. its a little update of what i've been doing so far... oh i also a little weight.. hair a little longer.. and a lot more STRESS!!! =)

Went to Beyonce's Concert last 2 weeks ago.. just before the break.. Opening act was Jessica Malboy and Flo Rida.. Had an awesome time throughout the whole concert.. although it was a bit too far.. would love to have sat nearer like a gizallion billion times nearer.... but oh well.... bought the tickets a bit too late.. so people in malaysia.. go and watch her.. who cares about the protest against her... Today I saw one of Victoria Secret's Angel - Miranda Kerr , Orlando Bloom's current girlfriend. During the night, I went to watch Katy Perry's Hello Katy Tour Concert. And Rove was there to watch too. weeee.. what an awesome day, lecture in the morning, shopping in the afternoon [only got a pair of shorts no biggie since i'm broke XP], concert at night.. phew~ tiredness.

okay i will post pictures later. camera/phone is current really low on battery. my camera died half way Katy's concert, what a bummer!! i forgot to charge.. *faint* but anyway it wasnt like she changed costume ten thousand times, only ONCE, and her kitty costume TO ME was ugly.. tsktsk..but her performances was AWESOME! she's really good in entertaining her fans, like give them her BERRIES - erm HUGE blown up strawberries.. kissed an audience.. asked one of her fan to dance on stage.. hahaha..and joked around.. OH and SANG LIVE!!!

Growing up, math was never my best subject. I always suffer in math. I thought maybe it was because I was lazy and hence less practice. Yet, I never question maybe its the teacher's fault since everyone learn at a different rate and process information at different times. Math was just not my thing and I never really knew why...

UNTIL NOW!

after attending today's Cognitive and Neuropsychological Developmental Lecture, I found out that math is a difficult thing for many people not because they do not practice their math question well enough but it has more to do with their math learning when they were young.

Dyscalculia or more commonly known as math disability affects many people from the developmental stage of a human being. What was discovered is that adult do not process the same solution to a math problem as a child does. As such, not everyone is good in math which is a wrong general idea that everyone can be good in maths.

You might not understand what i've written but its okay. Just keep in mind that kids understand math differently from adults and if your kid cant do well in math, the problem is bigger than not practicing enough math questions.

Its not your fault you suck in math, its just that you lack the talent in math. Just like you need talent to sing/draw or act, you need talent to do math as well.

I've been having dim sum almost every week since I got back. Explains all the extra pounds! Anyway so far JW Marriott KL - Shanghai serves the best dim sum. It might be pricey but its really yummy, worth every penny. I've also eaten at Lai Po Heen in Mandarin Oriental KL - since its halal (means no PORK) a little disappointing but still eatable. My stomach was also filled with dim sum from Jaya Palace in Petaling Jaya and SS2's coffee shop.

Everytime before my results are released I feel a little anxious, a little worried. I fear of failing a subject. Those feelings did not hit me this semester. I was confident of not failing. Extremely confident I would say. And to prove it I did not. But I was not satisfied at all. I felt betrayed. I was disappointed. I could not believe those numbers and alphabets written next to my subjects. I was utterly shocked and felt so lost. is this a joke or some kind of mistake?
I dare say, this semester was not like any other semesters. I worked my ass off. I worked so much harder than any other exams I took in my entire life. But the pay off was not worth it at all. Could it be my method of studying is incorrect? I studied my notes/I attended my lectures and tutorials/I re-listen to lectures I could not understand/I did past papers. What possible method is there left. If somebody know please enlighten me.
Maybe my mental capability or capacity is retarded. Or maybe its just me. Maybe I just have to accept that I will never be able to score. Just average. Nothing spectacular. Backtracking all my major exams since young, I never aced anything anyway. It's always not enough, never is, never will.
It frustrates me as results are everything not the process of learning. It pisses me off as others complained not studying enough but always do better than me. It saddens me as I tried very hard but it makes no difference.
Did I choose the wrong course from the start? Was it a mistake not enrolling to a pure arts degree when I first thought about it?

Totally disappointed.

i'm off to Taiwan in just awhile for a short holiday..currently in the airport lounge (China Airlines)

i'll be back 22nd Feb.. this sunday...

so unfortunately i wont be celebrating my 21st birthday in Malaysia on the 18th Feb 2009.

Therefore..I'll wish myself Happy 21st Birthday in advance!!!
